Oh Velour... So soft and luxurious yet can be disastrous when used for clothing. I'm not totally against velour, I think that it should be limited to loungewear, dancewear and those few activewear garments that have managed to become a part of the everyday wardrobe -- like velour pants by Juicy Couture.
This 'Cocoon' Coat by Rue du Mail is an example of velour overdone ( as if the design is not offensive enough ). As much as I try to hypothesize any reasons why Rue du Mail would have made such an unflattering, matronly looking and tasteless design, I just can't. Perhaps, it's metaphorical -- a beautiful butterfly awaits inside this cocoon. Yeah sure, nice try!

Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture Collection is haute couture at it's finest. John Galliano showed us glamourous perfection. Undeniably one of my favorite couture collection of all time. Everything came together for the show, the gorgeous models, fierce fashion and flawless make-up.Inspired by the 1930s, the rich plum and berry colors contrasted by warm, deep shades of beige punctuated the collection. I may have ran out of superlatives to describe Dior's Fall Collection.
This fall beauty look exudes an independent and free spirited woman. I also like that you don't have to wear haute couture with this look. Just wear darker rich shades for night and lighter shades for that fresh day look.

For quite some time now, Ed Hardy is one brand that I'm on the fence with. I'm for edgy, fashion forward style and design but when it starts to borderline obnoxious and overplayed, I start to doubt and loose interest on the designer. And that's where I stand with Ed Hardy. I respect the reintroduction of the tattoo / biker inspired fashion and made it trendy and hip.
This Tanya Satchel, for me is having an identity crisis. I see a little bit of Juicy Couture influence here, a little bit of Betsey Johnson there. And as their tag line says 'Redefining Street wear', it seems more like fluffed to me. I guess Ed Hardy is more of a 'specialty' brand or perhaps an acquired taste.

Helena Bonham Carter whom I love is absolutely fabulous in this movie. Sixty Six is now playing in select cities nationwide. The 80's was decade of fashion and style excess. A time when shoulder-padded tops, Neon colors, parachute pants and acid-washed denim could be worn all at the same time and considered trendy and hip. In fairness, I can't discount the fact that chic and fabulous still reigned on Style.com's trend report. I was never been a fan of Gold jewelry, I'm more of a silver, white gold and platinum kind of guy. All that changed at least for now when I saw Gucci's new line of jewelry. The designs are clean and modern and quite tasteful. I also love the unique details like the purple floral etched amethyst on a gold chain earring and bamboo inspired designs. Priced just about right for jewelry. Heirloom worthy pieces.

Stella, Stella, Stella...Tsk Tsk. Stella McCartney can she be more literal? This Rhumba dress is so busted! Here are three reasons why: First, lacks creativity - ruffles on the sleeves I wonder how long and how many sketches it took to create this dress. Next, uninspired - if the Rhumba is the inspiration behind this dress, then it should be sexy in a tasteful way. And how about a more festive color than black? The last reason this Stella McCartney 'Rhumba' Dress is my pick for this week's fashion criminal is more of a question. Would someone buy this dress if we it was designed by a less known designer?
