No offense to you velour lovers out there, I think velour is up there together with those tie-dyed, M.C. Hammer looking, balloon pants made popular on the shores of Venice Beach by body builders. Velour is best worn as a casual everyday wear or lounging at home. And that's not where the buck stops. Ever seen someone wearing pink velour bottoms at the gym with their 'business' hanging out and 'accidentally' wore their leopard or cheetah print thong! This is not a bar lady. Anyhow, moving on. I became aware of Lady Language Boutique when Michelle (site owner) sent me a message on iEmporium.com. Seeing just the name of her site, I thought it will be about empowerment of women. And to my surprise it's actually a boutique. I personally like the diversity of designs and styles the site offers. Love me some Gucci! I remember when I was about seven years old, I asked my dad what does his watch says. He said Gucci. And that was my first time being introduced to the Gucci brand. Through the years, Gucci has developed their watch collections. This watch from the 'G Chrono' collection is elegant and very handsome. Bravo held it's first 'A List Award' last night. Giving recognitions of excellence in Food, Fashion, Design and Pop Culture. The show was fun and entertaining. Hosted by 'Miss d list' herself, Kathy Griffin made the show enjoyable and worthwhile. The highlight  was a 'fashion for a cause' auction, with all proceeds donated to UNICEF's ongoing relief efforts in Myanmar.

A 'Project Runway' inspired challenge, paired designers from previous seasons with celebrity models. My personal favorites were Chris March's design made with human hair modeled by 'Make me a Supermodel' winner Holly Kiser.  Sweet P.'s plaid cranberry dress with leather trim was edgy and chic a perfect fit for her celebrity model Kat Von D. Capping of my top 3 is a white pencil cut dress from designer-celeb duo Michael Knight and 'Dancing With the Stars' Karina Smirnoff.

Auction ends on June 19th. Your winning bid goes beyond the outfit, it will save lives! Kudos to Bravo, the designers and celebrities whom made this great cause happen.

Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale for Men, is one of the best sale events out there for men. 33% discount on men's apparel, shoes and accessories.  And the reason(s) I say it's the best sale out there? First, an extensive inventory of each merchandise on sale. It is so frustrating when the only shirt sizes available are XXXL! Or there will be a few jeans or pants left on sale but the waist size available is 40L or the only color available on a pair of pants is mustard.

I fist saw Doori in a indie documentary chronicling her being a finalist for Vogue and CFDA's fashion fund award artist. Unfortunately, she didn't win the much coveted and prestigious award. The prize went to Proenza Schouler. But it was evident that Doori has a future in fashion. Fast forward to present time, Doori has become one of fashion's sought after designer. She has partnered and worked with big named designers like Vera Wang, Bill Blass, and J. Mendel to name a few. Aside from her clothing line, she designed a jewelry line for Atelier Swarovski. As an Interior Designer, Paisley is a pattern that I used often. It can transcend transitional to traditional styles. But when it comes to fashion, I love my paisley colorful and funky. Attention grabber. Just be careful and your styling down to the accessories needs to be precise. Or else you look like a hot mess! This paisley dress by Sugar Lips (84.00) is perfect for summer parties. The colors and hues are trendy this season. Being a Bravo TV junkie, it's no surprise that one of my favorite reality show is Project Runway. The diverse cast of designers showcasing their point of view is entertaining and admirable. My birthday is at the end of this month, a few years back I would be so excited. The party would've been all set, have my outfit(s), reserved the vip lounge at a club, and bought myself a pair of fun party shoes. But as I got older, those days are few and far in between. While I was doing my window shopping online, I came across some shoes that just have 'lets have fun, take me out dancing' written all over them. And they reminded me of the days back in Detroit with my friends at a club dancing like there is no tomorrow. These shoes really put a smile on my face! So... do me a favor 'take them out dancing!'

Summer is a season of casual fashion and style. And t-shirts are as as casual we can get. Graphic tees are perfect if you want to take your personal casual style to a more fashionable and trendy plateau. Some points to consider.  Avoid shirts that are vulgar or profane. If you support a cause that's fine, but know when to wear your propaganda. Easy on the brands and labels, a logo or a the designer's name / label is not bad. Don't be a walking billboard unless you're getting paid to advertise their name. Choose shirts that reflects and expresses your interests or personality. If you want to convey a message at least make it universal i.e. world peace, stop global warning, etc. Here are some 'smart style'  graphic tees I recommend.

It's sale season again! Luxury retail department stores, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf and SAKS offering up to 40% discount on 'select' merchandise. That's nice of them. But paying for luxury designer tank top priced close to $800, I say "No deal!" Nordstrom on the other hand, caters to a wide spectrum of consumers not just the top 25 percent of the tax bracket.  The June Sale features designer brands like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, L.A.M.B. at 50% off. If you're in the market for top tier designer fashions and accessories, head to Nordstrom Designer Sale section. Philip Lim, Burberry and Versace are some of the luxury labels you'll find.

As much as I love to wear cargo shorts this summer, I think I'll give them a break. A trendy and hip alternative are 3/4 length shorts. With cargos the designs and styles are limited and everybody will be wearing them. With the 3/4's, an arrray or styles, looks and fabrics you can chose from and not to casual as cargos. Bamford & Sons lands on this week's Crimes of Fashion list. For a couple of reasons, overpriced and stale designs. Yes they do use top of the line fabrics, like silk and cashmere but with the clothes they design might as well just sell fabrics. Like this women's textured silk jacket for $2,495.00, I'm sorry it doesn't matter who designed the dress or the material it is made out , of ugly is ugly period! And this tri-color men's cardigan, what's the point of making a tri-colored piece when the three colors are all shades of black. So, Bamford & Sons you're as guilty as O.J. Simpson on charges of fashion criminal negligence.

Christian Dior is considered one of the most important and influential people in the world of fashion. His name and the brand lives on. Maybe it's global warming, out  here in L.A. it will be 100 degrees during the day and down to the 50's at night. And when you're still out and about and the mercury drops, "Darn, wish I had (a) my jacket!" Jacket and coats are an all year affair. If you only have coats for winter or fall, it wouldn't hurt to invest on a spring / summer jacket.  This summer look for light fabrics that provide enough protection from the elements. Style wise, go with plain or solid pieces. Keep in mind, it may be a jacket but when you put that on it becomes part of your ensemble,  trendy and hip is the way to go.
